Care Guide

Because every Melody Makes item is handmade, a little extra care will help keep your piece looking its best.

General Care
For most crochet items, I recommend gentle care. Avoid pulling on loose threads, overstretching the item, or exposing it to excessive heat. If something gets snagged, try not to cut the yarn—send me a message first if you’re unsure what to do.

Plushies
Spot cleaning is usually the safest option. Use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap and gently clean the affected area. Avoid harsh scrubbing.

If a plushie needs a deeper clean, hand washing in cool or lukewarm water is recommended unless the product listing says otherwise. Gently squeeze out excess water without twisting or wringing, reshape it, and allow it to air dry completely.

Bags & Accessories
For crochet bags, book sleeves, and similar accessories, spot clean whenever possible.

If washing is needed, hand wash gently in cool water with mild detergent. Avoid wringing or twisting the item, as this can stretch the stitches and change its shape. Lay flat to air dry and reshape while damp.

Home Decor & Seasonal Items
Items like crochet pumpkins and decorative pieces should usually be spot cleaned only. Since many of these items are stuffed, soaking them can make drying more difficult and may affect their shape.

Keep decorative pieces away from excessive moisture, heat, and open flames.

Wearables
Care can vary depending on the yarn used, so always check the individual product description first. In general, gentle hand washing in cool water and laying flat to dry is the safest option for handmade crochet clothing.

A Few Extra Tips
Do not use bleach. Avoid high heat from dryers or irons unless the specific product instructions say otherwise. Store crochet items somewhere clean and dry when they are not being used.

Since different items may be made with different yarns or materials, the care instructions on the individual product listing should always take priority over this general guide.
